"you can only learn something if your ears are open and your mouth stays closed."

if patience is a virtue, we're going to have a really hard time getting our country back. if time is of the essence how does it jive with the other phrase mentioned? how can we have patience to be more virtuous when we've got to get things done and get them done quickly?

why do we need to spend time listening when we already know what they're going to say? besides...they're probably just stu
pid, so who are they to tell me anything. how would they know?

all i can say to this is that i feel for teachers who have to teach today and deal with this kind of attitude from their students. students who won't take the time to learn what's being taught because they're too busy to learn anything that they feel either is not worth learning or won't ever apply to them.

my grandmother used to tell me when i was a child, "you can only learn something if your ears are open and your mouth stays closed." learning anything takes patience. don't commit to it if you don't have time to do it right.

if you have to be in school...get the most out of it by shutting your mouth and by keeping your ears open. your eyes and ears are the doors to your mind...not your mouth. your mouth is for teaching and sharing information others when and if you ever know enough about something that you were supposed to learn.
